introduction
Research on tumor diseases is inseparable from the study of the migration and invasion functions of tumor cells. Meanwhile, it also lays the foundation for the subsequent research on signal pathways and functional mechanisms.
Cell invasion: It is used to study the invasion ability of tumor cells or the invasion ability of tumor cells under specific circumstances. Different from the tumor cell migration experiment, a layer of Matrigel needs to be spread on the upper side of the polycarbonate membrane to mimic the extracellular matrix. Tumor cells are seeded in the upper chamber. If the cells want to enter the lower chamber, they must first secrete matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) to break down the Matrigel before they can pass through the polycarbonate membrane into the lower chamber. Counting the number of cells that enter the lower chamber can reflect the invasion ability of tumor cells.
